I was blocked from Instagram today

I was blocked from Instagram today.

It said I had violated their Community Standards about Child Sexual Exploitation to the US National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Those of you who know me can see that this is clearly a huge mistake. I haven’t shared any inappropriate images, chatted to a child or planned to meet a child for an intimate encounter. Really Instagram?

To access my account I need to give them all my personal details, copy of my identification, and upload a recorded video of myself, to clear my conscience from these heavy allegations.

I don’t live in the US, and I am not going to defend my innocence to their authorities.

Buiness owners are tied to the chains of social media

I have 190 days to appeal the decision, and then I don’t even know if my content is still there, or my followers. For now, I am going to take a break from it all and stop giving away my intellectual property to a corrupt US company that is only there for their own gains!

Instagram is, like most of you would know, owned by Facebook. I have had a hate/love relationship with this organisation since I started using their platforms to market my previous business, Lashia. From the beginning, Facebook was a great platform where we could connect with a broader audience, we could post content and every single one of our followers would see and interact with that post. They would come in chronological order, and once you had finished your feed for the day, that was it, no more to see here.

They are trying to make us believe that is not possible anymore, that there just is too much content being posted. Not really? If you follow 500 people including maybe 30 small businesses, only perhaps 10-15% of that post regularly. This is just a total guess but say you then would see 50-75 posts on your feed daily. It sounds like a lot, but consider how many times you pick up your phone in a day. If they kept the old algorithms, you would see posts in real time as they were posted. It made sense. Just like how emails still shows you the time it was sent, and you can open and look at it in your own time. It won’t disappear, it will stay there until you have seen it.

A never ending money making content factory

Why did they change it? Because they want to make money. More and more ads and targeted content, the algorithm gives you what it thinks you are interested in, and more of it too.

Who asked for this? And with reels these days it is just an endless scroll and competition of who is the funniest, most interesting, most engaging. The toll this takes on small business owners is insane, no wonder the world is falling apart?

Who made up the rules of social media?

We aren’t just here to offer a service or a product. We need to be entertainers, video producers, content creators, it’s got to be engaging within the first 1.2 seconds of the video or all your efforts are forever discarded.

Say you have liked a video about dogs. Your feed is then inundated with posts and reels about dogs, funny dogs, sad dogs, cute dogs, happy dogs. You get ads about dog food, dog accessories, puppy classes, until you are that sick of dogs you never want to see a dog again.

Nothing more than a Street Clown

To be a small business owner these days feels like you are one of those street artists on Hollywood Boulevard competing for a few seconds of fame.

All I want to do is sell my services, to earn a living on the things that I am good at! I don’t want to be a poor street entertainer pleading for you to like me.

So I quit, I resign from the maniac world of social media entertainment. If you want me I am here. I love what I do, I help people find themselves through healing, coaching and conscious breathwork.

But I am not doing this, I am not spending hours thinking up content, thinking up the next line dance on Trafalgar square, I am not dressing up as a superhero hugging tourists on the streets of Tokyo. That is what Instagram has become.

Again, I haven’t yet decided if I will restore my account by complying to their rules, I might fall back into that inferno one day. But for now, I am going to focus on the things that I love doing: Writing, having meaningful conversations with real people, and spend my time with family, friends and animals, and ride horses in the beautiful hinterland of the Gold Coast.

Do you want to connect with me?

Mimmi

Why Some Clients Feel Worse After Breathwork (and How to Prevent It)

Breathwork is often described as calming, regulating, or even transformational. And for many people, it is. But for others, breathwork can feel uncomfortable, overwhelming, or even destabilising. When this happens, it’s not because the client or coach is “doing it wrong” — it’s usually because the breathwork wasn’t matched to their nervous system, history, or capacity in that moment.

Understanding why some clients feel worse after breathwork is essential for anyone who wants to integrate breathwork into their professional work safely and ethically.

Why Women with ADHD Often Struggle After Narcissistic Relationships

Leaving a narcissistic relationship is never easy. For women with ADHD, the challenges can feel even heavier — not because they are weak or incapable, but because ADHD traits often intersect painfully with the dynamics of narcissistic abuse.

As an ADHD coach, I’ve seen many women step out of these relationships and wonder why healing feels so complicated. If this is you, know this: it makes sense, and you are not alone.
