Why More Therapists Are Coming to Me for Breathwork—And How It’s Changing Their Lives
As someone who guides people through deep emotional and somatic healing, I’ve always been fascinated by the ripple effect of breathwork. But recently, I’ve noticed something that’s really struck me: more and more counsellors, psychologists, and therapists are coming to me—not as professionals seeking tools, but as humans seeking healing.
They’re the ones who hold space for others day in and day out. They hear the darkest moments, witness the trauma, and sit with the rawness of human emotion. And while they’re incredibly skilled at helping others regulate, process, and move forward—what happens to them? Where do they go with all that emotional residue that inevitably gets stored in their nervous system?
Some have shared with me, “I didn’t even realise how much I was carrying,” or “I thought I was fine, but I just kept feeling this heaviness I couldn’t shake.”
That’s the thing. As therapists, they’re trained to be the calm in the storm—but no one can pour from an empty cup.
